Mason-Montgomery Road Widening

Construction Timing:

July 2017 through September 2018

Traffic Impacts:

Update: August 31, 2017

Beginning Friday, September 15, at 11 p.m., through Monday, September 18, at 5 a.m., a portion of Mason-Montgomery Road will be closed for storm sewer installation at Parkway Drive.

Mason-Montgomery Road between Natorp Boulevard and Irwin-Simpson Road will be closed, but access to local businesses within the closure area will be permitted. Through traffic should follow the posted detour that will use Natorp Boulevard, Duke Drive, Irwin-Simpson Road and Wilkens Boulevard, or seek alternate local routes to avoid the project area.

This work is part of the Mason-Montgomery Road Widening Project that will provide one additional travel lane in each direction on Mason-Montgomery Road, and will ease congestion and improve safety throughout this well-traveled corridor.

Update: August 3, 2017

Our work on the widening of Mason-Montgomery Road continues with utility work from Old Irwin-Simpson Road to Socialville-Fosters Road. Related lane closures will take place during the hours of 7 am – 3 pm daily, with no work taking place on weekends. We expect this work to continue through September.

Project Information:

An additional lane on northbound Mason-Montgomery Road from Parkway Drive to Socialville-Fosters Road will be built.

An additional lane on southbound Mason-Montgomery Road from Socialville-Fosters Road to Escort Drive will be built.

Also as part of this work, additional pedestrian walkways and bike paths will be added. A continuation of the shared-use path that begins at Socialville-Fosters Road and Mason-Montgomery Road will continue south from Socialville-Fosters Road to Irwin-Simpson Road, and a sidewalk will be built from Irwin-Simpson Road to Parkway Drive.

In addition, curb and gutter, and storm sewer improvements will be made.

Project Benefits:

With one additional travel lane in each direction through this section of Mason-Montgomery Road, the road will include six travel lanes with a center turning lane median. This will help ease congestion and improve safety throughout this well-traveled corridor that will be home to P&G’s new Global Beauty Innovation Center.
